It was a great honour to speak at the National Achievers Congress 2016 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this weekend and talking to a large welcoming audience of over 800 people.
It has been an even greater honor to listen to and learn from all the fantastic international speakers present: Gerry Robert, Dennis Waitley, Tom Hopkins, Kevin Green, JT Foxx, and more. Here are some key points mentioned I would like to share.
How do you define wealth and being wealthy?
True wealth is dignified and understated and goes far beyond being rich in money or material things only. True wealth is dignified and understated and goes far beyond being rich in money or material things only.
Money should be your servant, not your master. Stop trading your life hours for dollars and start creating multiple streams of income. Keep in mind that overnight success is a myth. It is a continuous effort to create the right mindset and circumstances. It requires patience and persistence, hard work on yourself, and your goals as well as a victor and 'can do' attitude.
'Luck' is usually the result of extensive preparation meeting the right opportunity. Neither one is based on a passive mindset but on acquired knowledge, hard work, delayed gratification, and actively searching and fighting for the right opportunities that bring you closer to your goals.
Your achievements are a reflection of your inner values. Your net worth is greatly influenced by your inner self-worth.
Building and keeping wealth stems from an abundance mindset and the belief that there is enough for every single person - including yourself. You will only invest in yourself and your progress if you believe in your inner potential and that you are worth it, that you can do it, that reaching your goals IS possible. Others have done it before you.
Find successful role models, coaches, and mentors. Surround yourself with people who have done it and who live what you want to achieve. People who can take you efficiently to the next level of your journey - in business, in mindset, in your personal development, in wealth mastery, in contribution, in your overall health. When the student is ready, the right teacher appears.
True wealth requires clear, specific focus and dedication all the way. Set SMART Goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and set time deadlines. Stick to them.
Wealth comes to problem solvers and needs servers. Discover your natural talents, your passion. Find a need or a problem that excites you to make your efforts sustainable. A need or a problem that concerns many to which you can provide a solution. Give more in value than you receive in payment. Over-deliver.
Give back. Share your time, strength, money, energy, network, resources, knowledge, wisdom, and experience with others. To do this you don't need to be wealthy in the first place nor have an abundance of time at your hand. It is an everyday habit, created in the awareness of need followed by small actions. Creating this habit doesn't depend on the size of your wallet, it depends on the size of your heart and your compassion. Interestingly, having achieved massive success, wealthy people dedicate most of their fortune to good causes, creating foundations like Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, George Soros, and Gordon Moore to name a few at the top of the list. They all one day started out having an idea, a goal, or a dream. They didn't start at the top. Read their biographies, they are highly inspiring and motivating. Feed your mind with success stories on a daily basis.
The more you believe in yourself the more of an attractive force you will be. In the beginning, was the word. Before the word comes the thought which is the most powerful creator of your own reality. Focus on what you want, not what you don't want. The brain can't process negation: 'I don't want to think of a green dog with a red tail.' Try it. What do you think about it? You just made your point.
Focus to improve yourself and keep learning every day, it will keep you not only up to date and humble, but young in your mind until your old age. Know yourself, know the world.
The biggest success roadblock is fear:
- Fear of change and the unfamiliar
- Fear of failure and rejection, not belonging
- Fear of success built on self-doubt and guilt
Fear leads in the opposite direction of your goals. Fear is based on something new and unfamiliar to you. It can be overwhelming, paralysing, and can lead to self-sabotage.
Overcome fear by gaining broad Knowledge, Training, acquiring the necessary skills and experience. Procrastination is the fear of success and a great hiding place for perfectionists. Nothing is ever perfect and life keeps always changing, get going and keep improving along the way! Courage doesn't mean there is no fear but that you manage to face, conquer, move through, and overcome it.
Dennis Waitley pointed out while sharing his recent travel experience: 'Become a tour guide in your life and not a tourist. The jungle out there is neutral, it doesn't care about you. You can perceive it either as hell or paradise.'
Blaming your environment, circumstances or others is a big success no-go. Claim responsibility and accountability for your own life and actions and actively create the life you want to have no matter what obstacles you encounter along the way.
Defeat is only permanent if you make it such and give up. It requires mental toughness and self-discipline to keep going when nobody is watching or cheering you on, to get back on your feet after failures and hardships, learning and improving each time. Your mindset is key to your success.
Being a successful investor requires a great deal of insight into the markets and your psychological-emotional landscape.
Your shadows and inner challenges can run a successful business into the ground if they are not recognised and dealt with.
Emotional Intelligence, communication and relationship skills, behaviour, lifestyle habits, beliefs, and values are soft skills that can be improved dramatically if the root causes are efficiently recognised and dealt with. You can only change yourself, not others - an insight often gained through substantial suffering. It doesn't have to go this far. Take a deep look at yourself first, gaining awareness and mindfulness which are key to this process.
'I wanna be a billionaire so f... bad' by Travie Mccoy became a massive musical hit a few years back.
Know what it takes to become truly wealthy and to perform the long journey required to reach that level - and stay there.
A majority wants to be rich but only some are willing to do the continuous work.
Much associate money with the solution to all their current problems or why they can't reach a goal or a dream. Creating balance in life is a journey, not a destination.
The key again is the mindset, not the money. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
Everything you create in your life comes originally from your thoughts followed by massive action. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.
Have a fantastic week and I wish you great wealth in all areas of your life!
